Charles Dickens visited Yorkshire many times, on his famous speaking tours and to visit his brother. In fact many of his most infamous characters, including Wackford Squeers in Nicholas Nickleby, and Mr. Micawber in David Copperfield, were inspired by Yorkshire folk.
