Gillian traces a local family back through agricultural labourers and factory workers, in the 17th to 19th centuries, and shows how it is possible to break into medieval genealogy, using her own research.
However, she also demonstrates the pitfalls that can bedevil medieval genealogical research. She uses pedigrees and heraldic sources to demonstrate the “myths and lies” that wait to entrap genealogists.
