Was King Arthur a Yorkshireman?

In the dark days after the Roman withdrawal from Britain it is said that one man led the kings and military forces of the Britons against their enemies and “was twelve times chosen their commander”.

Could this man be named Arthur? And was he based in the county now called Yorkshire?
