Married to Edward II at the age of twelve, Isabella of France master-minded the deposition of her tyrannical husband and invaded England in 1326 to usurp him. Isabella and her lover, Roger de Mortimer, ruled England for three years, before her young son Edward III led a successful coup against them and established his personal reign. This day school explores why Isabella turned against her husband Edward II, how she deposed him and whether she colluded in Edward’s mysterious death.
